EPDM (Rubber Roofing)
EPDM stands for ethylene propylene diene monomer — essentially, rubber. It's the most commonly used flat-roofing material for residential houses. Rubber comes in two thicknesses (.60 mil and .90 mil) and is available in white or black. Rubber roofing is typically installed over insulation board fastened off to the entire roof deck, then glued and pressed down securely. It will maintain bond for 40–50 years.

TPO stands for thermoplastic polyolefin. Despite the name, it's not composed of plastic but rather a compound of different rubbers. TPO systems are generally used on large commercial and industrial buildings and are fully adhered to the roof deck over insulation boards. Seams and overlaps are heat-welded (not glued), requiring special equipment. The two major benefits: price and bright white color that reflects UV, keeping energy costs down.

SPF stands for Sprayed Polyurethane Foam. SPF roof systems can be applied over existing flat and metal roof surfaces and will form an inseparable chemical bond to the cleaned and primed surface. A 100% silicone coating is then applied on top of the foam. SPF roofs also provide additional R-value to the building envelope and a reflective UV-resistant surface.
