Deck Builders
Custom-framed cedar, mahogany, composite and PVC decks built to outlast Cape Cod's wind, salt and rain. NADRA-credentialed, lifetime workmanship.
Decks that match the craftsmanship of our roofs
We build decks the same way we build roofs — over-engineered, fastened with stainless, and finished with the kind of detail that gets your neighbors asking who built it. From framing to railing, every deck we install is permitted, code-compliant, and backed by the same warranty philosophy that's earned us 1,500+ five-star reviews across Cape Cod.
Owners Patrick Clifford and Alex Yaskavets are both members of the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) — the industry's accrediting body for professional deck builders. That membership means continuing education, code training, and accountability to the standards that protect your investment.
AZEK PVC & Composite Decking
The gold standard for low-maintenance decks. AZEK capped polymer and TimberTech composite boards never rot, never splinter, and never need staining. Available in dozens of grain patterns and color blends — from driftwood gray to coastal mahogany — with hidden Cortex fasteners for a flawless finished surface.
- Lifetime limited & transferable warranties
- Picture-frame borders & mitered corners standard
- Hidden fastener systems — no visible screws on the surface
- Color-matched fascia, risers, and skirt

→Mahogany & Ipe Hardwood
For the homes that deserve a true hardwood deck, we install Brazilian mahogany, Ipe, and Garapa — dense tropical hardwoods with natural rot, insect, and fire resistance that age to a stunning silver-gray patina (or hold their rich red-brown tone if oiled annually). Pre-drilled, face-screwed with stainless trim-head fasteners or hidden Camo/Tiger Claw clips.
Hardwood Decks
→Western Red & Northern White Cedar
The classic New England deck. Western red cedar and Atlantic white cedar give your home that storybook coastal look that ages into a beautiful silver-gray weather patina. Lighter and more affordable than tropical hardwoods, naturally rot- and insect-resistant — and easy to refinish if you want to restore the original tone.
Cedar Decks
→Pressure-Treated Pine
The most cost-effective deck surface, especially for larger footprints and rental properties. Modern MCA / ACQ-treated southern yellow pine is approved for direct ground contact, comes in pre-stained colors, and — when installed over a properly flashed frame with stainless or triple-coated fasteners — gives you a great deck at a great price.
Pressure-Treated
→The framing nobody sees — done right
90% of a deck's lifespan is set the day the frame goes up. We don't cut corners under the boards.
Engineered footings
Sonotube-poured concrete piers below frost line, sized per soil load — or helical pile foundations for soft coastal soils. Every connection brackets to galvanized post bases.
Stainless fasteners
Cape Cod salt air eats coated screws. We use marine-grade 316 stainless through the structural connections and visible surface — no rust streaks, no premature failure.
Flashing tape on joists
Trex Protect or Vycor Deck Protector butyl tape on every joist top — the simple step that doubles framing life by stopping rot at the screw line.
Railings, stairs & built-in details
Custom railings in cable, aluminum, glass, wood, and composite — all engineered to the 36" / 42" residential height and 200-lb point-load codes. Built-in benches, planters, pergolas, lighting, and under-deck drainage on request. We handle the permit applications, the building inspector sign-offs, and the engineered drawings when required.

Decks: common questions
How much does a custom deck cost on Cape Cod?
Material choice drives the largest cost swing: pressure-treated pine at $35–$45 per sq ft, cedar at $50–$65, AZEK/TimberTech composite at $60–$80, mahogany or Ipe hardwood at $75–$95. Add 15–25% for elevated or multi-level decks, integrated benches, pergolas, hidden under-deck storage, or custom railings. All HyTech deck quotes include the engineered frame, footing inspections, and permitting.
Do you handle the building permit for a new deck?
Every Cape Cod town requires a building permit for any new deck attached to a structure. We handle the entire process: engineered drawings, town permit application, footing/ledger inspection scheduling, and the final inspection sign-off. We're licensed under Massachusetts HIC and CSL, and our drawings are signed by a structural engineer when the town requires it.
How long does a custom deck last on Cape Cod?
The deck surface is only half the story — frame longevity matters more. We use marine-grade 316 stainless fasteners through structural connections, Trex Protect butyl joist tape on every joist top, and pour Sonotube concrete piers below frost line (or helical piles in soft coastal soils). With proper drainage and annual cleaning, an HyTech-built composite deck routinely outlasts the home it's attached to.
Are HyTech's deck builders NADRA-certified?
NADRA membership requires ongoing code training, continuing education in modern fastening and ledger-attachment best practices, and accountability to the published NADRA installation standards. It's not a paid badge — it's the standard you want a deck builder to be held to.
What railing systems do you install?
Cable rail is the most popular choice for waterfront homes because it doesn't obstruct the view. Glass panel rail is a close second. We can mix systems — for example, a cedar top rail over aluminum balusters — and we install integrated LED riser and post-cap lighting on request.
Do you build decks for hot tubs?
This requires doubled or tripled joists below the hot tub footprint, additional concrete footings, and structural drawings stamped by an engineer for the permit application. We also rough in electrical conduit and drainage so your electrician and plumber don't have to cut into a finished deck later.
